    POSITION TITLE: A2 Virtual+ Secondary Summer Term Online Teachers

    EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: June 26 – August 7, 2024

    POSITION LOCATION: A2 Virtual+

    RATE OF PAY: $140/ student

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: A2 Virtual+ Administration


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board of Education in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with certification at the appropriate level.
    Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students in an online environment
    Ability to work successfully with students who have academic difficulties.

    We will consider instructors who work other summer programs in conjunction with this position, please be forthcoming about other summer commitments. Preference is given to instructors who have previous online experience and/or previous experience in the A2 Virtual+ summer program. Positions will require working from a remote location. Virtual proctoring responsibilities may be required.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Read, write and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    Effective communication through email.
    Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents,
    students and administrators.
    Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Add, subtract, and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    Experience and knowledge of Basic Computer Literacy Skills
    Experienced Highly Qualified Secondary Instructor, grades 6-12
    Knowledge of or ability to learn Learning Management Systems such as Schoology
    Knowledge of the internet and web-related technologies
    Sense of responsibility and ability to work independently with little supervision
    Self-motivated with multi-tasking and time management skills
    Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
    Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
    Perform duties with awareness of all State and Federal Regulations (ie. CIPA, FERPA, etc.), District requirements, and Board of Education policies
    Demonstrate interdisciplinary thinking and instruction
    Demonstrate open-ended critical thinking and problem solving
    Demonstrate a willingness to use and develop technology tools that promote shared problem solving and inquiry
    Demonstrate an instructional understanding of higher-order questioning skills; apply these skills to advance rigor and relevance of instruction/learning as needed
    Other duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
