Job Description:

The Family Office Accounting Associate role at OSJL provides accounting support for the OSJL Family Office, managing a subset of financial investments and activities. This includes, but is not limited to, financial investments, reporting, analysis, and coordination with the Finance team for family philanthropy and affiliated businesses.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Reconcile and prepare workpapers/accruals for balance sheet and income statement accounts (i.e., intercompany allocation entries, revenue, expenses, and variance analyses), and manage the general ledger ensuring transaction accuracy.
  • Support year-end financial activities.
  • Assist management of accounting for investment partnerships, foundations, trusts, as well as other financial entities.
  • Prepare investment forecasts and budgets as directed.
  • Track charitable pledges and review philanthropic agreements.
  • Compile and reconcile annual income tax information.
  • Provide support to executives and key staff, prepare ad-hoc reports, and participate in special projects as needed.
  • Maintain professional development through education, publications, networking, and professional organizations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Company and personal financial information.
  • Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions, as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required.
  • 3 or more years of accounting or auditing experience are required.
  • Experience with financial reporting as well as financial statement preparation are required.
  • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and FASB ASC is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and creative skills are required.
  • CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Highly proficient with spreadsheet and reporting tools, especially QuickBooks and MS Excel.
  • Proficient with Google platforms (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
    potential.
  • Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
  • Work may be completed outside of the company locations. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. The role may also bring their own device/s to complete all work (e.g., all computer hardware and software, including audio and video capabilities for virtual meetings; and reliable Internet connection with ability to access the Google platforms for virtual meetings and applications used for work).
