Job Description

The Director of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment is a leader and manager responsible for operational and strategic aspects of the MD program admissions and recruitment at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine (COM). The Director is a key member of the COM Academic Affairs Executive Office (AAEO) leadership team who works to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment and matriculation plan to meet the enrollment goals of the College. Serves as a liaison to all aspects of COM Academic Affairs to assure alignment with the college mission, policies, and procedures.

The Director aids the AAEO with the full range of responsibilities that support the College’s admissions functions as it relates to the educational mission.

Duties:

  • Develops, manages, and evaluates daily admissions operations to include but not limited to business processes, workflow management.
  • Oversees, trains, supervises, and evaluates the admissions staff.
  • Prepares admissions budget and monitors expenditures.
  • Participates in recruitment, orientation, graduation, and other events. Serves on college
  • level admissions committees, and other committees as requested.
  • Serves as a university contact with Federal, State and local agencies and associations to ensure compliance with regulations concerning student admissions.
  • Serves as a primary liaison with departments, administrative services areas, Information Technology, faculty, and administration for educational programs on matters of admissions policy and procedures.
  • Establishes strategies and tactics by evaluating trends; developing metrics; formulating customer service approaches; assessing and reworking systems; articulating resource requirements; resolving problems; implementing change as identified, measured, and achievable.
  • Maximizes recruiting and admissions operations by using modern, stateofthe
  • art recruiting and admissions technologies.

This position may be eligible for hybrid/remote work arrangement after one year of employment.


Job Requirements

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree AND:
  • 60 months experience that includes leadership and/or management in student records, registration, admissions, planning and scheduling processes, systems, and technologies in a higher education environment.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 108 months related experience.
Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date
Skills:
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience managing complex processes and multitasking.
  • Ability to travel seasonally and work occasional weekends and nights
Department Preferences:
  • Master’s degree plus 2 years of experience at the senior leadership level in the admissions office
  • Knowledge of admission and recruitment programs, including compliance with LCME accreditation requirements and applicable governmental guidelines and regulations.
  • Strong managerial and team
  • building skills, and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve unit priorities
  • Project management acumen.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Environmental: Standard Office Environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other departments and university officials.
