Technical Representative
The Altra Technical Representative is a motivated self-starter who will lead and execute seasonal go-to-market and service strategies in all distribution channels within their assigned territory. This role will foster growth, excitement, and awareness within the community by conducting education, promotion, and merchandising tasks for Altra, VF, and its products. The Altra Technical Representative will also be responsible for establishing meaningful and lasting relationships with retailers, community partners, and consumers to drive sell-through of Altra products and increase market share. This role does require frequent travel to assigned accounts, designated consumer events, and races, as well as working on weekends.

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:
Be a positive representation for the brand while conducting retailer visits, as well as interacting with community partners, and end consumers

Build strong retail partnerships by providing frequent in-person visits, product demos, and assistance on the sales floor

Help increase retail staff confidence by conducting clear and persuasive presentations on how to pull, speak to, and sell Altra product

Engage with retailers and community partners to generate brand awareness and excitement around Altra

Implement promotional activations with product and POP

Represent Altra at local (and select national) races, expos, and tradeshows

Complete detailed and accurate field activity reports via Repsly

Maintain organization and appearance of field assets and demo shoes

Maintain and track travel expenses and seed product to stay within assigned budget

How you will do it:
Ensure field activities align with seasonal go-to-market strategies established by the sales and marketing department

Collaborate with the territory Sales Rep to identify territory specific service needs and align on an approach to support brand growth

Be the “eyes and ears” of the company: collect and relay feedback on Altra products and industry trends being observed in the field

What success looks like:
Meeting goals set by the leadership team, organization, and self

Retail staff is comfortable and confident in pulling and selling Altra product

Overall territory growth year-over-year

Hitting monthly service metrics established by the Technical Representative Manager

Successfully meeting deadlines set for action items, projects, and reports

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience:
1-3 Years of relevant experience in the running or outdoor industry preferred

1+ Years of experience in a sales or marketing related role

Educational Position Requirements:
A formal education and subsequent undergraduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

BA or BS degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred

What we expect you already know and have:
Familiarity with the Altra product line

Strong time management, planning and organizational skills

The awareness to always maintain professionalism when interacting with retail staff and end consumers

Passion for the sport of running and being active, with the desire to share that passion with others

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work well independently, as well as within a team

Experience working directly with consumers, fitting, and selling technical footwear

Proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook

Self-motivated with the desire to show initiative and be proactive

What we will teach you:
The specifics of the complete Altra product line

How to best utilize the Field Service Team’s informational and organizational systems

Field Service Team best practices for supporting retailers and the community

Hiring Range : $56,000.00 USD - $70,000.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
