Job Description:
Exciting opportunity at MSK: Join our team as an Assistant Editor/Grant Writer! We’re looking for a dynamic professional to assist Editorial and Grant Writing Services team in supporting faculty in the Departments of Medicine and Surgery.

Role Overview:
  • Edit, write, and coordinate academic, research, and grant-related documents.
  • Find opportunities for peer-reviewed funding, locate suitable applicants, provide support with grant preparation, and work with investigators and other staff to ensure timely submission of proposals so as to maximize external funding for the research program.
  • Edit highly technical documents under tight deadlines.
Key Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of grant submission / project-coordination experience
  • 3-5 years of publishing or editing experience (preferred).
  • Certification via the American Medical Writers Association, Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS), or University of Chicago Medical Writing & Editing Program preferred.
Core Skills:
  • Substantive editing, stylistic editing, and copy editing (required).
  • Developmental and plain-language editing (preferred).
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex information.
  • Flexibility in approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology; academic publishing; and grammar, syntax, and usage.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and bibliographic/reference management software (i.e. EndNote).
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Writer, Photoshop, and Illustrator helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact across all levels in a confident, professional manner.
  • Enthusiasm and dedication to MSK's vision, mission and values.
Additional Information:
  • Location: Fully remote role with no on-site time, consistent with the overall unit. An individual may request for a hybrid option to allow some travel to campus.
