Job Description

The Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, the world’s leading privately owned orthodontic publication, is seeking an Assistant Editor to work remotely and from our office in Greenwood Village, Colo. Most work can be done remotely, but the applicant must either live in the Denver area or be willing to relocate. This position reports directly to the Managing Editor and works under the overall guidance of the Editor-in-Chief and President.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and format accepted articles for editing by the Managing Editor, organizing images in an appropriate order and format for the Art Director.
  • Prepare regular departments such as Product News and the Readers’ Corner. Coordinate the solicitation of material for these departments and other ongoing features such as Interviews and Roundtables. Coordinate the assignment of Book Reviews with the Editor-in-Chief. Follow up with authors as necessary.
  • Proofread articles at every stage of production for grammar, house style, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Communicate with authors at various stages of the process and handle general questions and correspondence.

Qualifications should include a college degree in journalism, English, or a related field and pertinent experience in editorial management. Experience in dental or medical editing and a background in the orthodontic industry are helpful but not required. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite will also be useful. The successful applicant will demonstrate a high degree of organization and an ability to work efficiently and accurately under deadlines. Salary dependent on experience and qualifications, range of $40,000-$60,000 a year. Medical, dental, and vision benefits provided, as well as annual $7,200 medical insurance and reimbursement plan.
