Job Description

The Veterans Business Outreach Center of New England (VBOC of NE) is a resource that provides support and assistance to veteran entrepreneurs. The VBOC of NE provides services to military affiliated individuals in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut. Additionally, the VBOC of NE provides entrepreneurial training opportunities to military affiliated individuals nationally through the provision of specialized programming leveraging staff expertise and federal resources to further impact the veteran entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The VBOC of NE plays a vital role in supporting veteran entrepreneurs by providing business consulting, training, access to capital, networking opportunities, government contracting assistance, and referral services. These resources and support services empower veterans to overcome challenges and achieve success in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Job Overview

The Associate Program Director supports all operations of the program and is critical to its success. This position is the first point of contact for veterans seeking assistance and ensures consistency and continuity of service. The Associate Program Director works in partnership with the VBOC of NE Executive Director in the areas of client management and administration, successful program development and delivery, internal and external relationship building, marketing and outreach, and data management. They manage the day-to-day flow of programming and drive programming and events for the region, including the regional New England Veterans Small Business Symposium, National Veterans Small Business Week, and Boots to Business for Beginning Farmers and Ranchers. Program management includes recruiting and retaining a qualified base of consultants; facilitating workshops and consultations with veterans; arranging additional classes where appropriate; and outreach events in Northern New England.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Manage VBOC of New England’s relationship with U.S. Small Business Administration and ensure compliance with the program requirements of the VBOC grant. Coordinate regional Small Business Administration network relationships

· Work with the SBA, veteran organizations, and partners throughout New England to deliver programs and services to veterans throughout New England.

· Support the creation of new veteran-owned small businesses and development of existing VOSBs. Assesses the needs of small business owners; recommends and assists with the development of a plan of action.

· Manage social media, implement marketing strategies, plan outreach initiatives, execute activities to attract new clients, engage with current/past clients, and engage collaborators

· Participate in national veteran entrepreneurial programming including Boots to Business Beginning Farmers and Ranchers. Serves as a liaison with national veteran organizations and participates in in annual conferences and other events as required.

· Administer education and training programs

· Work with program staff to ensure program quality

· Recommend new programs to address changing client needs and economic conditions

· Track and analyze activities and outcomes of programs

· Staff and/or attend in person outreach events, trainings, and Boots to Business as assigned

· Implement marketing and outreach initiatives to attract new clients and speak at community meetings and events

· Develop, implement, and maintain marketing strategies to increase engagement and raise the visibility of the VBOC of NE. Develop and implement marketing plans and track performance against goals. Develop and implement media plans, including advertising, public relations, email marketing, sales promotion, and social media.

Qualifications

  • Military affiliated individuals – Veteran, Military Spouse, National Guard, Reserves, Military Dependent. Lived experience in the military and knowledge of military culture mandatory.
  • Small Business owner or experience managing a small business
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably related to business administration
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of data management and/or CRM systems
  • Excellent business skills including organization, time management, verbal, and written communication
  • Committed to success and high-quality service delivery
  • Highly independent and dependable
  • Sensitive to the needs of military affiliated individuals
  • Enthusiastic about the mission of the Veterans Business Outreach Center of New England and veteran entrepreneurship.

Computer Skills

  • MS Office proficiency required

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours will be required
  • Travel (25%) within the full-service region.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
