Business Analyst – Insurance Industry
12 Month Contract (W2)
Farmington, CT (Remote)

Job Summary:
Work for a well – established global insurance company that specializes in Risk Management.

User story creation, dissection, prioritization. Assist in Product Owner engagement, backlog management, and acceptance criteria definition. The Business Analyst will also serve as a knowledgeable resource in advising the team on tools and techniques to improve the development, collection, analysis, and reporting of information. Strong focus on data analysis, data contract creation and mapping. Build strong understanding of user journeys and processes to elicit accurately and efficiently, challenge, and document requirements, processes, and scope to enable successful delivery of business change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the client’s division.
  • Elicit, understand, challenge, and translate the business value into requirements, creating appropriate user stories of the right quality at the right time.
  • Ensuring traceability of requirements throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Analysis, definition, and control of scope.
  • Analyze, document, and promote efficiencies for business processes.
  • Work to analyze as-is and to-be target states, performing gap analysis.
  • Provide the link between the internal stakeholder, technical teams and any third-party regarding software functionality, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment between requirements and test output, including managing User Acceptance Testing.
  • Engage with Enterprise architecture to set requirements in the context of the whole enterprise and strategic direction.
  • Adopt a data driven approach in all activities, not only when giving an opinion or arguing a point but being a guardian for how data flows through the organization and how it must be respected as a key performance driver.
  • Build a relationship with your Product Owner, understand their business and challenges.
  • Understand who your customer is and how the product impacts them to ensure you are driving the right outcome.
  • Stakeholder analysis, management, and communication.
  • Drive positive change within the team.

Outputs (to include but not limited to):
During discovery activity
  • Understand the customer journey and translate into user stories.
  • Proactively monitor industry, functional, and technology trends
  • End to end process maps (in conjunction with and confirmed by the business)
  • Identification of process improvement opportunities and the associated costs and benefits
During design and build activity
  • Understand information and data analysis requirements.
  • Prototype and co-design for innovative solutions.
  • Revised process maps as appropriate
  • Business process documentation, user manual changes and training
Support for Business-Led Delivery
  • Identify opportunities for business-led delivery.
  • Promote new technology opportunities and trends to business partners.
  • Coach employees to make use of technology and information.
  • Broker internal and external resources.
  • Provide consultative support on business-led technology projects.
  • Help prioritize and scope out various business-led projects.

Relationship Management and Communication
  • Communicate emerging business and consumer trends to delivery teams.
  • Support digital strategy and organizational change.
  • Aid business partners in understanding trade-offs and developing consensus.
  • Develop relationships with senior management and staff in all relevant areas of the client’s organization and ensure that there is an open and constructive dialogue regarding team needs and issues.
  • Ensure that all relevant staff receive clear and frequent updates regarding business analytical tasks and progress as necessary.
  • Work with all in the business to maintain a positive perception and capability of client’s division.

General
  • Adopt the client’s culture of professionalism, integrity, effectiveness, and dynamic attitude that contributes to an internal environment of teamwork and promotes a positive brand image and experience to our external customers.
  • Comply with the client’s procedures, policies and regulations including the code of conduct which incorporates the PRA and FCA Conduct Rules. Undertake training on policies and procedures as delivered by your line manager, Culture & People, or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) either directly, via e-learning or the learning management system.
  • Display business ethics that uphold the interests of all our customers.
  • Ensure all interactions with customers are focused on delivering a fair outcome, including having the right products for their needs.
  • Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, Culture & People or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any of the client’s committees or working groups.

    • Effective User Story writing/management
  • Highly skilled in the analysis and documentation of complex business processes.
  • In-depth experience with multiple methods for the elicitation, validation, and documentation of requirements for complex Information Systems.
  • Exposure to a wide range of complex Information Systems across a global enterprise.
  • Extensive experience working with global project teams, software providers, and outsourcers.
  • End to end experience of the project lifecycle over numerous medium and large-scale projects.
  • Proven skills in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and networking.
  • Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to be involved in continuously improving Change Delivery governance processes.
  • Broad understanding of project delivery practices and management methodologies
  • Able to communicate complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences.
