Job Description

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Technology Services Division, Medicaid Systems Support Program.

 

Each Business Analyst works closely with Division program personnel and system owners to identify user business needs that must be accommodated in the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) modular system design. This position needs to work with Division program personnel to solicit accurate and complete business and functional requirements and identify opportunities to improve and automate business processes.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

 

  • Required for first day of work:

    • Knowledge of Medicaid business processes.

    • Thorough knowledge of healthcare claims management, reimbursement methodology, and service delivery.

    • Knowledge of principles and practices of information systems analysis, design, development implementation, maintenance and security related functions; administrative procedures of state government; state and federal laws pertaining to information systems development and procurement of contracted services; and the organizational structure of DPHHS.

    • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving ability.

    • Ability to evaluate program requirements relative to the proposed solution; conduct research; exercise sound judgement in solving programs and making decisions where few precedents exist.

    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and maintain effective working relationships with division employees, contracted staff, and other state and federal agencies.

    • Must have ability to exercise sound technical, interpersonal, and organizational judgement when appraising evaluation and solving complex problems.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage varying deadlines and multiple projects responding positively to changes in direction, priorities, responsibilities, or assignments.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, information technology, computer science, or related field is preferred.

    • Three or more years of job-related work experience.

    • Knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is preferred.

    • Experience with MS Project and/or other project management tools is preferred.

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
