Job Description

Business Analyst Department Purpose:

The BA Department is the liaison that facilitates collaboration between the Business Unit(s) and the IT department to encourage better business decisions that bring value to the organization.

Summary:

The Business Analyst I supports the organization by addressing problems and concerns, as well as creating new efficiencies via software enhancements and re-engineered processes. The position engages in active communication to understand the needs and desires of Dryden’s customers and agents and acts as a liaison between the Business and IT, including outside vendors. The Business Analyst works with the Business Units and the IT Department to maximize the value of analysis, development, and testing for assigned applications, ensuring the product delivered aligns with the organizational needs. In addition, they are responsible for ensuring consistency in the look, feel, and functionality of systems, and business processes across all lines of business.

Goals for this position:

  • Analyze change requests and develop requirements
  • Triage production issues: reproduce defects, communicate status, and escalate as needed
  • Responsible for assisting in the testing of software fixes and enhancements for production deployments
  • Assist with backlog grooming

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and apply BA knowledge
  • Assist as a Business Unit Subject Matter Expert (SME) by answering questions specific to the software used in real-life scenarios
  • Assist in the documentation of current business processes for evaluating improvements and implementing solutions
  • Assist in consistent documentation for all lines of business in an assigned application (InsuranceNow and all related interfaces)
  • Acquire an understanding of testing objectives (e.g., unit testing, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, etc.)
  • Recreate reported issues in non-production environment(s) and escalate to Level 2/3 Business Analyst or Business Analyst Manager
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders and present critical information on upcomingprojects/tickets
  • Assist with updating the outstanding defect and wishlist items received from thebusiness
  • Work with the BA Team and Business SMEs to elicit and capture requirements
  • Assist in scoping by determining sprint/project deliverables, objectives, andboundaries
  • Contribute to the development of test plans and test scripts, perform test execution, and report results
  • Provide ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) estimates to assist in planning sprints and small projects
  • Assist the business with UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
  • Assist in communication with all impacted stakeholders on deployment plans and progress
  • Pursue entry-level certification/training in Business Analysis (from a professional organization or university)

This position operates in a professional office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and printers.

Position Type

This is a full-time hybrid remote position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 4:30 pm. A flex schedule is available, two in-office days each week are required.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary as company duties demand.

Travel

Not required, out-of-area training opportunities may be offered and are optional for attendance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with Dryden's insurance software tool (InsuranceNow)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
  • Experience using the screen-capturing tool (Snagit)
  • Experience with process flow diagramming tools is preferred
  • Experience with Business Analysis processes is preferred
  • Business Analysis Certification is preferred
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associates or Bachelors preferred
  • Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in the insurance industry
  • Insurance certification is preferred (CPCU, CIC, AINS, AIC)

Pay: $54,600.00 - $86,000.00 per year
