Overview:

Business Brokers specialize in selling small to mid-size businesses, somewhat similar to the process of a Real Estate Agent selling a house. If the world of business and entrepreneurship interests you, you should consider becoming a Business Broker. Don’t know anything about selling businesses? That’s OK, because we have a training program for all of our new Agents and we have a 90-Day Success Program in place to jumpstart your career after your initial training, as well as on-going mentoring and support. All you need is your FL Real Estate Sales Associate License, and we will teach you everything you need to know to be successful. If you don’t have your license yet, but have a strong sales background, we will still consider you for the position, as long as you are able to obtain your license immediately.

This is a sales position and the pay is entirely commission-based.

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

· Must hold a FL Real Estate Sales Associate or Broker’s License (Required by FL Law)

· Sales experience and desire to learn new sales techniques

· Interest in the world of small business and entrepreneurship

· Enjoys helping people, customer-oriented

· Experience making phone calls to potential leads and converting them

· Highly motivated, self-starter, hard-working, driven

· Wants to work FULL TIME in business brokerage (we will not consider any candidates who are looking to do this “on the side” or only part-time)

· Desires to work in a team environment and be involved in team meetings, activities, and trainings

· Ability and desire to work remotely, as well as travel to meet with customers in and around your area of Florida

Compensation:

This is a sales position, and pay is completely commission-based.

Business Brokers are Independent Contractors.

For most agents, your first paycheck will be anywhere from 4-6 months or more, depending on your efforts and the circumstances of your deals (average sales cycle in FL is about 9 months). Since this is a commission-only business, you will have to find a way to pay your bills until that first commission check. If your spouse makes great money, or you have money saved up, or a retirement check, then it’s easy. However, if you need money on a monthly basis right from the start (or only a few months after starting), then a career in business brokerage is not for you.

If you do have the ability to hold out, then the potential is for commission checks that range from $10,000 to $150,000 or more. The average commission for a FL business sale is about $30,000. If you keep your sales pipeline filled and maintain at least 10 listings year-round, then you should be positioned to make between $100,000 to $200,000 a year (depending on deal sizes). Just as an example, our top producer brought in over $400,000 in commission in 2020, and in 2021 our top 2 business brokers each made about $500,000 in commission. So, yes, it’s possible to make great money doing what we do, but it requires hustle, dedication, willingness to learn, and patience.

Green & Co. Business Brokers work mostly Monday-Friday 8:45am-5pm, but the time you put in directly results to your earnings, and you make your own schedule. Due to confidentiality, some meetings between buyers and sellers do need to take place outside of the business’s working hours, so you do need to remain flexible.
