Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director of Career Services, the Career Services Advisor offers consultative services to JD candidates, LLM students and alumni. Work for this position is seasonal in nature. Peak periods include summer in preparation for the On-Campus Interview Program (OCI) and in the Winter for Public Interest Career Day. These events bring large national and international law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations and smaller firms to school events and often yield placement opportunities for a significant number of participants. The Career Services Advisor (CSA) is responsible for advising and counseling Law School students and alumni on a variety of career issues and strategies pertaining to the attainment of employment. Responsibilities include reviewing and providing detailed feedback on job application materials and identifying gaps in information; advising and counseling students on career issues and strategies, job search methods, resume preparation; assisting with interview preparation for all types of opportunities; helping to uncover and publicize job opportunities in the legal field; and developing action plans for individuals who have submitted materials for review. and publicize job opportunities in the legal field; and developing action plans for individuals who have submitted materials for review. The CSA will participate in and manage career exploration and recruitment preparation activities for both domestic and international internships, and part-time and full-time employment across a variety of functions and industries, in order to facilitate the placement of current students and alumni in line with the school's goals and mission. The CSA should possess a strategic orientation towards law career and professional development, be able to independently prioritize and meet deadlines, and have demonstrated skill in communicating orally and in writing with all relevant Law School and external constituencies.
Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. - 5+ years Experience in career services or career advising experience, preferably in a law school setting. (Preferred)
- Detailed knowledge of the law career market and required documents needed. (Required)
- Working knowledge of University policies and procedures sufficient to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. (Preferred)
- Skill in handling confidential and sensitive data. (Required)
- Ability to understand and communicate, both orally and in writing, the operational responsibilities and related needs among campus divisions, departments, and units. (Preferred)
- Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of goals and job responsibilities. (Required)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships and enlist support of all levels of faculty members, University staff, students, community constituencies, and alumni, and to mobilize in a team effort to accomplish goals. (Required)
- Ability to work with, understand and maintain the confidentiality of large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data. (Required)
- Skill in interacting effectively with individuals or groups representing various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. (Required)
- Ability to work under pressures of peak seasons of activity, frequent interruptions and distractions and emotional tensions of law students and alumni. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
- Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required) And
