POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for verifying that all charge data received is complete so that anesthesia charges can be effectively and efficiently entered and coded.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors final diagnoses and procedures stated by the provider for validity and completion.
  • Reviews patient records to verify all necessary data is present including signatures and dates where required.
  • Reviews records for documentation consistency and adequacy, ensuring that the final diagnosis accurately reflects the care and treatment rendered.
  • Follows-up with facilities, providers, etc. for any missing or unclear information, as necessary.
  • Combines and organizes all medical record documentation in daily batches via Adobe, or other electronic methods.
  • Maintains consistent flow of records daily to ensure month end deadlines and daily goals are met.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Excellent computer, data entry and clerical skills, knowledge of business office procedures required. Must possess excellent interpersonal, clerical, telephone, and communication skills. The ability to multi-task and deal effectively with a variety of situations requiring judgment and poise is necessary. Attention to detail and organizational abilities are essential. Must possess typing/data entry skills of 40 wpm minimum with displayed accuracy: knowledge of medical terminology.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in business or related field preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ office experience, preferably in healthcare, required. Prefer a minimum of six months previous experience in charge of entry in a medical office and must demonstrate ability to read various demographic information sheets and sort the information provided.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Job functions are conducted during customary business hours with some pre, and post regular hours of work required. Interaction with providers, staff, and public may be constant and interruptive. This position has daily, ongoing contact with MedStream administrative staff and other outside contacts. The abilities to view a computer terminal, communicate electronically, answer a telephone, read, prepare, and analyze data and figures constantly, as well as to communicate verbally are required. This position has no direct reports

Base pay is based on market location and will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that NPH provides to compensate and recognize our staff for their work.
