Job Description

The Comptroller will have primary day-to-day responsibility for the planning, implementing, managing, and controlling of all financial-related activities for the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, budgeting, and financing. A successful candidate is a skilled problem solver who is well-organized and analytical. Must be confident in his or her work to make
strategic decisions, while maintaining a collaborative approach.

This is a new role for our growing small healthcare business. We are open to negotiate contract terms and assignments.

 

Essential Functions:
1. Operational Excellence:

  • Manages the relationships of all clients/vendors/reps
  • Creates site budgets and the analysis and management of factors related to staffing, capacity, ROI, budget, margins, service offerings, and performance metrics to ensure P & L oversight
  • Implements processes and develops action plans to improve the overall performance of individual sites and customer service issues and drives overall operational efficiency and compliance
  • Provides reports on a (monthly/quarterly) basis with commentary outlining reasons for variance in data (productivity, service, etc.); develops and carries out an action plan for improvement
  • Functions as main client leadership contact to support retention and growth of the business through a concerted emphasis on client satisfaction, value-added proposition, and bringing relevant health care trends to the client’s attention
  • Works closely with internal resources to proactively identify risk and growth opportunities for expansion of new or existing service offerings and provides guidance for the integration of services
  • Participates and develops in client and/or site meetings, committees, and task forces to support strategic initiatives and goals

2. Financial Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
  • Confer with the executive team, discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve issues.
  • First line responsibility for all accounting functions
  • Manage Financial Planning and analysis
  • Execute the financial strategy of the company
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models
  • Planning, Studying and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
  • Reviews all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation
  • Recommends changes in the accounting as well as other departments for efficiency, cost improvement, and improved reports of financial status and results. Assists with the implementation of new monthly accounting reports.
  • Prepares monthly profit and loss reports assuming primary responsibility for the budgeting and forecasting process

3. Other:

  • Consults with Medical, Legal, or Compliance departments regarding regulations, practices act, practice law, certification requirements, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. Masters preferred.
  • 4+ years experience in a business environment or related industry, managing others
  • Demonstrated process or efficiency management.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills required
  • Highly proficient in using Excel, Tableau, and QuickBooks
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills required
  • Excellent demonstrated follow-up skills & attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the Practice
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated adaptability and ability to manage change


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience managing in medical practice, pharmacy, or other similar environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, Medicare, and/or clinical standards of practice
  • Experience in an Operations function desired
  • Prior budget and P&L responsibility desired
  • Familiarity with using Electronic Medical Records or an aptitude to learn (Athena, Cure MD, eClinical Works, EPIC)
