SUMMARY

Analyze credit data and financial statements of individuals and/or business entities to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Prepare reports with credit information for use in decision making. This role carries no supervisory duties.

Typical Schedule

Position is full-time requiring 40 hours per week. This position allows for occasional flexibility with regard to in-office hours. For emergency preparedness purposes, employee may be set-up to work from home (requires Supervisor approval.)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in conjunction with the Credit Analyst Team, to determine flow of pending loans and assignment for completion;
  • Work closely with Commercial/Ag lenders and Commercial Loan Assistants to provide quality customer service and timeliness for requests for credit from existing borrowers and potential new borrowers.
  • Work in conjunction with Commercial Loan Assistants to order lien searches and flood determinations.
  • Work in conjunction with Commercial Loan Assistants and lenders to ensure Beneficial Ownership and proper CIP information is gathered, as well as all financial documents for proper underwriting.
  • May order credit reports, and assist lenders in review of same when needed;

  • Complete Credit Report Review Checklist
  • Update score in Insight
  • Complete Name and Address Discrepancy form, if necessary.
  • Complete underwriting of new commercial loan requests and review of existing relationships;
  • Includes evaluation and analysis of financial information for repayment ability, identification of risks, strength and weaknesses;
  • Assist with updates to Large Borrower Report including information about Enhanced Monitoring.;
  • Complete Approval Memorandums which should include the following:
  • a summary of the Borrower’s background
  • an accurate summary of loan requests
  • an existing and proposed exposure summary
  • collateral analysis
  • credit analysis
  • risk rating analysis (including directing Commercial Loan Assistants to update RR in Insight)
  • Identification of Policy Exceptions
  • Submit completed Approval Memorandums for MLRG and Board of Director’s consideration;
  • Works with commercial lender and other Credit Analysts to Track and obtain collection of financial information from Borrowers and Guarantors as presented in the Approval Memorandum (monthly, quarterly, borrowing base, annual, etc.);
  • Scan pertinent information to credit files in Identify system in a timely and orderly manner;
  • May be asked to assist in development and review of procedures and Commercial/Ag lending policies;
  • underwriting for credit line renewals;
  • Assemble and assist in orderly upkeep of commercial credit files, which include write-ups, statement spreads, financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, file memos, etc;
  • Provide extension and other changes/corrections to loans to Commercial Loan Assistants;
  • When requested attend quarterly Loan Review Meetings and provide information about potential problem loans;
  • Field telephone calls from customers, attorneys, accountants, etc;
  • May be asked to go on borrower calls/visits with Commercial/Ag lenders;
  • Respond to inquiries (phone, email or in-person) relating to his/her area promptly and accurately, resolving issues or referring to the appropriate individual;
  • Coordinate specific tasks with other personnel in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The lender is responsible for working with the loan Assistants on this now. May assist lender with internal appraisal review when no conflict of interest is involved;
  • May assist lender in preparing accurate and informative Call Reports in a timely manner, which summarize client contact/meetings;
  • Work closely with other members of the Commercial/Ag Lending Staff to ensure accurate documentation of commercial/Ag loans;
  • Act as back-up to Commercial Loan Assistants for loan advances, wire transfers, etc.;
  • Work with Senior Credit Analyst to learn Commercial Loan compliance guidelines and how to assist in resolving any adverse findings during audits or exams.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Participate in and/or complete all necessary bank training;
  • Required to maintain the strictness of confidentiality in all matters;
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures;
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job

Requirements:

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong time management, judgment, decision-making and critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills with an enhanced social perceptiveness and a service-oriented disposition;
  • Thorough knowledge of computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word, Sageworks/Abrigo);
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and issues relating to the bank’s customers, policies, and personnel;
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of the Bank’s Lending Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Associates Degree in a Business discipline (preferably in Accounting or Finance);
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Valid PA driver’s license.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional local travel to attend various bank related events and trainings.
