Job Summary: The Education Consultant develops and delivers participant education programs to enroll and educate primarily ERISA 403(b) plan participants. They work independently as an important team member to manage multiple assignments and coordinate with internal staff to deliver education resources in an effective and efficient manner to the Pentegra client base. They own, update and develop education content as needed, partnering with TIAA when appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Works with clients to identify education needs of plan participants
- Designs customized education programs to meet specific client needs as well as generic material suitable for the broader client base
- Records activity and provides management reports utilizing Salesforce
- Creates presentations using PowerPoint for use with employee meetings
- Independently sources and summarizes individual plan information when creating client specific presentations
- Travels nationwide to meet with Pentegra’s client base
- Prepares, schedules and delivers live and recorded webcast education seminars
- Coordinates with Pentegra’s Marketing Department with respect to relevant material and resources
- Provides relevant feedback to clients and internal client service team members
- Updates and maintains internal/external programs used for delivering participant education content and enrollment material (e.g. Brainshark)
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in retirement plan services with at least 2 years of experience conducting employee education
- Must have Series 6 & 63 licenses
- ASPPA or other industry specific designation preferred
- Bachelors degree – preferably in business, communication, accounting or finance
- Confident ability to identify, understand, explain and extract most relevant ERISA 403(b) plan provisions from Plan Document Adoption Agreements and Amendments for purposes of updating and delivering participant education content
- Knowledge of investment basics, diversification and asset classes
- Ability to decipher routine and common plan provisions from governing plan documents such as an adoption agreement for purposes of updating PowerPoint content and meeting notes
- Excellent oral and written communication & presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent organization skills to independently manage client meeting requests, proactively contact assigned clients for meetings, schedule efficient travel arrangements to include multiple clients visited per trip over several days as needed and able, prepare meeting content and keep team members apprised of progress.
- Knowledge of the non-profit market a plus
- Strong client service skills with a focus on responsiveness and urgency to meet or exceed client expectations at every opportunity to do so.
- Strong attention to detail across all communications and presentations
- Ability to satisfy client activity goals
- Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to travel overnight - 40%
- Existing (or ability to acquire) knowledge and skills necessary to deliver effective defined benefit plan education a plus
