Job Description

Provide Motivational Interviewing course instruction for EndTobacco Programs (Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP) and Project TEACH.

**This is a temporary position not to exceed 4 1/2 months; 6 hours a week non-benefited position; the salary will reflect the hours**

KEY FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide course instruction and assist in the enhancement of course curriculum for the Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP)

  • Serve as the lead instructor for "Motivational Interviewing" modules for 6 CTTTP sessions held within the fiscal year to deliver high-quality instruction to healthcare professionals enrolled in CTTTP. Course instruction hours:48 hours for 6 sessions.

  • Serve as backup instructor for relapse prevention and treatment planning module for 6 CTTTP sessions held within the fiscal year. Course instruction hours: 45 hours for 6 sessions.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, case studies, role-playing exercises, and group discussions, to engage learners and enhance comprehension.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to enhance and update curriculum for motivational interviewing, tobacco counseling, relapse prevention and treatment planning modules including test questions (version updates as needed) within the CTTTP program.

  • Collaborate with and engage with the core CTTTP teaching team in course planning meetings to ensure course curriculum is up to date and aligned with industry standards and best practices.

  • Provide context and share historical knowledge to address specific course curricula questions from End Tobacco team.

  • Serve as a resource to CTTTP instructors involved in delivering motivational interviewing modules.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, advancements, and changes in tobacco cessation and counseling to inform curriculum updates and program enhancements.

  • Collaborate with MD Anderson stakeholders to address feedback, review course evaluation, identify areas for enhancement, and implement quality assurance measures to maintain program excellence.

2.Support Project ECHO TEACH activities through case presentation facilitation

  • Teach/lecture four Motivational Interviewing sessions a year.

  • Serve as backup facilitator for Project ECHO TEACH sessions to help educate and engage participants.

  • Connect EndTobacco team with tobacco treatment providers through existing networks to present a case for bimonthly Project TEACH tele-mentoring sessions.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Psychology, Training & Development, Instructional Design or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years of experience in related field in a business or healthcare environment. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
