DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Processes Emergency Department records into software for correct application of facility levels. Assists in maintaining ER Department software and assists end users timely with issues that arise.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintains software systems by checking program modules.
- Develops support and maintains system requirements as it relates to workflow.
- Accurately reflects all patient activity for correct and accurate capture of all charges as they relate to the Hospital charge level.
- Checks for accuracy in the documentation and flow of documentation into hospital electronic system.
- Ensures all patient visits are accounted for in a timely manner and all information is available for coders as needed to support the billing process.
- Maintains all upgrades to the T-System and ENCHART and keeps track of all current information concerning the processing of records through each of these systems.
- Checks daily discharge statistics to ensure receipt of all records and follows up on records not received.
- Checks each patient record for poor originals. Poor images are re-scanned when needed.
- Assists in training of personnel on systems as needed.
- Completes Occurrence Report forms following procedures and timeliness requirements.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or GED certificate.
- One year of experience in a hospital setting with training in T-Systems and McKesson Intelligent Coding (MIC). Familiarity with the functions of an emergency department is a plus.
- Good computer skills and efficient and effective with data entry.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills; Ability to communicate orally and in written form. Must be detail oriented.
- Requires emotional stability and maturity; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Must be team oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting with a light amount of lifting of physical records/documents weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Almost 100% of time spent inside the building.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
