JOB TITLE:   

EORI Senior Petroleum Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:   

Provide senior-level reservoir engineering expertise to ensure successful outcomes of the Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute (EORI) State-mandated mission.  Work under very limited guidance of the Director and Deputy Director of EORI to develop practical and economical methods to improve oil and gas production in Wyoming fields. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Work closely and collaboratively with EORI staff, stakeholders, and the oil and gas industry to maximize production and minimize stranded reserves in Wyoming fields
  • Provide technical support to the EORI team and industry partners in the cross-disciplinary areas of geologic mapping, reservoir characterization, and reservoir engineering
  • Provide expertise in advancing and developing appropriate and economical IOR and EOR processes for Institute projects
  • Provide support for industry collaboration, development of applicable pilot projects, appropriate technologies for field tests, and technology transfer to the oil and gas industry
  • Engage in a positive, interactive, team-focused manner that supports constructive and progressive impacts on team performance and morale to ensure high-level results for the Institute
  • Develop and present oral and written presentations for industry, staff, EORI Commission, State legislators, and legislative groups
  • Assist the Director and Deputy Director in the solicitation, evaluation, and selection of EORI projects.  Provide input when requested to assist in prioritization and best use of staff time to ensure project deadlines and timelines are met
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required to perform the essential duties of this position

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This is designed as an "in-office" position in Casper, WY to ensure close collaboration with EORI team members.  However, it is eligible for remote work and/or a flexible work schedule with approval from the EORI Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering. Master's or Ph.D  degree preferred. Degree in Chemical Engineering will be considered.
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of reservoir engineering with an established oil and gas company. Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) and/or Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) experience preferred. Academic or laboratory-focused experience does not qualify. 
  • LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  •  Experience with and knowledge of Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) processes, practices, and advanced engineering principles and techniques
  •  Experience with and knowledge of Reservoir modeling
  •  Experience with and knowledge of Oil and gas economics
