Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the county of Greene. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).
Position Title: ESL Instructor
Division/Office: TJACE@PVCC
Employment Type: Part time, hourly—classes are held in-person

Location: TJACE Learning Center at IX Park
Job Description:
  • Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standards
  • Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with TJACE@PVCC’s instructional program.
  • Develop and deliver lessons that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies to meet the needs and goals of students
  • Address all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing,
  • Maintain complete and accurate records
  • Provide a supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies/content
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
  • Participate in program’s Professional Learning Community and staff meetings

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and ESL teaching experience required.
