Job Description

The Business Analyst position is responsible for understanding all JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services data, systems, and business processes with the goal of assisting or taking the lead on reporting, data governance, and/or tool development that enables increased analytical insight that is in line with the operational and financial goals of JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services. This includes proactively identifying, analyzing, and initiating programs to increase the financial and operational performance of JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services. This position requires the ability to interact with and influence stakeholders across multiple functional groups and multiple levels of leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Designs, builds, maintains, and drives action from report and tool building

  • Key owner of dashboard tool that houses and maintains reporting metrics for JMCRS. Maintains central repository of all key reports and reporting tools.

  • Identifies key metrics to track and ensure accuracy and reliability of supporting data.

  • Develops and maintains reports and tools that supports JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services.

  • Works to continually analyze the effectiveness of JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services teams and initiates creative solutions to address complex business challenges.

  • Develops, maintains, and drives action from analyses to measure the trends, efficiencies, and effectiveness of resource allocation and utilization for JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services.

  • Works closely with all interested parties to develop reports and tools that considers all upstream and downstream processes and data while maintaining effectiveness and timely delivery of reports and tools.

  • Facilitates and leads most work related to the designing, building, and maintaining reports and data tools.

  • Provide analytical support to all JMCRS data governance activities

  • Extract and analyze data to help Business Partners understand and correct current data governance issues.

  • Explore data to help identify future data governance issues.

  • Participate in the planning for new data, tools, or systems with the goal to increase the interrelationship of all data.

  • Build reports and tools that help folks understand the state of governed data with the goal to maintain clean and stable data.

  • Provide tools to increase access to governed data

  • With little to no guidance identifies, and communicates data governance issues while providing assistance in solving identified data governance issues

  • Provide support in developing new or improving current business processes :

  • Identifies key data and metrics or gaps in data that are related to understanding the effectiveness or efficiency of new or current business processes.

  • Facilitates and leads others in developing or improving business processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master's preferred

  • 3 or more year’s work experience in business analysis, financial analysis or equivalent

  • Excellent initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks, projects, and workflow, and use independent judgment to make decisions regarding operations and deadlines

  • Ability to effectively persuade and influence the thinking of stakeholders across multiple functional groups and multiple levels of leadership through social and verbal interactions and presence.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations

  • Excellent skills with at least one business intelligence or data visualization software tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview, SAP, R, etc.

  • Experience with data-oriented programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, M, DAX etc.

  • Ability to travel 10%

Pay Range: $63,744 - $106,723 based on total years of related experience
