CNO's Advocacy & Transparency Call Center Operations is hiring a Health Claims Advocate to assist our members to navigate their benefits, with the goal that the member makes informed decisions and uses their benefits to the fullest. Advocates resolve complex claim, benefit and/or eligibility issues by using internal resources, and health plan documents.

The Health Claims Advocate will have a specific focus on resolving medical claims issues and providing education regarding medical claims. This is an opportunity for you to positively impact the lives of others. You’ll be able to advocate, communicate, and educate member employees to make the medical claims process less intimidating. The shift for this position is 11:30 am Central Time - 8pm Central Time.

As a Health Claims Advocate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting our members with heath care questions, eligibility, benefits, locate in-network providers and resolve claims questions and/or issue including understanding the cause for the issue.
  • Communicating member liability clearly and accurately while adequately explaining concepts such as deductibles, coinsurance, and or copayments and how they may affect the cost of care.
  • Explaining how non-covered and out-of-network services factor into the out-of-pocket cost.
  • Handling claims disputes with employer sponsored health plans on behalf of the member.
  • Using our custom designed member-support system, consult with members who require help/guidance/actions with regards to their employer-sponsored benefit program(s).
  • Determining and executing the best resolution to assist members based on their unique needs or requests.

The Health Claims Advocate position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and problem-solving techniques to identify issues, root causes and possible solutions.
  • Set expectations for time-sensitive follow ups, and how the issue will be managed, including possible outcomes.
  • Have a strong ability to explain complex issues to people regardless of their foundation of subject knowledge.
  • Build rapport with others using a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging or difficult situations.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • HS diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in health insurance, benefits, a provider setting, or other similar environment.
  • Thorough understanding of health care delivery, previous experience with medical benefits, and claims for either provider or payor perspective.
  • Previous experience in a role using technology, multi-tasking and written/verbal communication is used to drive daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to work 11:30 am Central Time to 8pm Central Time.

What will set you apart:

  • High Speed Internet (50 mbps)
  • 2 years of experience with benefits administration experience.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando and Milwaukee) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
