Job Description

Introduction:

The employee will develop and coordinate health services for Head Startclients and staff. The employee works underthe supervisionof the HS/EHS Health Coordinator.The employee will be capable of operating modern office equipment.The employeemay be exposedto dust, dirt, foul odors and other factors due to thebreakdownof some equipment or systems. The employee shall adhere to the National Smoke Free Environment Policy Public Law 103-227, Pro-Children Act of 2001 42 U.S.C. 7181 through 7184 and TN Licensure Rule 1240-04-01-12(14).

Section 1 Job Performance

Quality of Work

Submit all necessary reports to the Content Area Coordinator.

Ensure all paperwork is accurate and submitted timely.

Ability to establish and maintain accurate records including mathematical computations/ tabulations as well as methods for systematic reporting of statistical data.

Complete work assignments remotely as needed.

Job Knowledge

Serve as a resource for content area providing assistance and guidance as needed.

Assist Area Coordinator to ensure Program Policies, Procedures, Performance Standards, and licensing requirements are met through on-site monitoring of center activities.

Provide consultation for identified health concerns.

Identify need for supplies and follow purchasing procedures.

Familiarity with current Tennessee State EPSDT requirements and regional health issues.

Assist Area Coordinator to provide content area information to program staff in content area specialty.

Initiative

Assist with coordinating medical and dental services with Community Partners for HS participants as needed.

Ensure that appropriate health and dental exams occur for all HS children.

Ensure that appropriate follow-up occurs for all not within normal limits health events including physicals, dental exams, and Health History for HS children.

Track and monitor health files for children, including Medication Agreements, Accident and Daily Health Check modules, and doctors notes.

Conduct First Aid/CPR training as needed.

Conduct site visits on a regular basis.

Provide monthly reports to supervisor.

Assist in ongoing recruitment targeting children from low-income families, children with disabilities and pregnant women, and complete HS/EHS applications as needed.

Adhere to Agencys HS/EHS confidentiality policy, professional ethics and standards, demonstrating work habits, which comply with Agency Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Review and modify job descriptions, plans, policy and procedures as needed.

Assist in the compilation and completion of Self-Assessment and Community Assessment and participate in the analysis of data for training and planning purposes.

Plan and conduct content area training sessions and in-Service as assigned.

Participate in and conduct virtual meetings/training.

Participate in schedule staff meetings, conferences, training sessions, workshops, and In-Service as assigned.

Conduct targeted training when identified needs occur.

Explore and share ongoing ideas/solutions for program and content area specific improvement.

LPN (Required)

A.A. or B.S. in Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, Maternal & ChildHealth or Health Admin. (Preferred)

Threeyearsnursing experience.(Preferred)

CurrentFirstAid/CPR Trainer certification or willingness to acquireit.

Bilingual(Preferred)

Satisfactory physical examinationprior tobeginning workand everyfiveyears thereafter.

Must possess a valid Drivers License and current Automobile Liability Insurance.

Satisfactory criminal background check prior to hireand every 5 years thereafter. Drug testing as required.

Required Knowledge & Abilities:

Familiarity with current Tennessee State EPSDT requirements and regional health issues.

Assist program coordinator in content area specialty.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and fellow employees.

Ability to prioritize a complex workload.

Ability to understand and follow any oral or written instructions and make mathematical computations and tabulations accurately.

Ability to establish and maintain accurate records and methods for systematic reporting of statistical data.

Ability to travel extensively within assigned area.

Ability to be a mandated reported for suspected child abuse or neglect.

Ability to promote a positive and encouraging work environment.

Ability to assist in other positions as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; stoop; bend; walk; talk; hear; use hands to grip, type; reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to stand or walk on uneven surfaces; climb stairs; run. 2 to 4 hours per day spent in strenuous physical activity, lifting up to 60lbssix or eight times in a 7.5-hour day.
