Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Health Information Technician to join our team. As a Health Information Technician, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Your role will contribute to the efficient operation of our healthcare facility by providing accurate and up-to-date patient information.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain patient medical records in both electronic and paper formats
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient information
- Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations
- Assign appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing and reimbursement purposes
- Retrieve patient records for healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other authorized individuals
- Process requests for release of medical information in accordance with privacy laws and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation of patient care
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations

Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology, including knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills to manage large volumes of medical records
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other health information management software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information
