Job Description

Review clinical documentation as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Appropriately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures as determined by the clinical documentation. Ability to determine principal diagnosis, comorbidities and complications, secondary conditions, and surgical procedures. Assign Present on Admission indicators as well as identify Hospital Acquired Conditions. Analyze documentation and abstract pertinent data. Must maintain minimum quality and productivity standards.

Requirements:

Certifications for role include: CPC, CCS, and or RHIT
