Join Trane Technologies as our Large Unitary Refrigeration Leader! This position will lead the refrigeration subsystem for Large Commercial Trane Unitary products in North America. The large commercial unitary development organization is charged with creating competitive designs for packaged and split air conditioning systems to meet the needs of demanding customers such as large offices and data centers. They work intimately with other departments in engineering, manufacturing, marketing, service, and sourcing in order to create integrated and optimized designs and support ongoing business activities.

Where is the work:
This is a Remote position.


What you will do:

  • Refrigeration Architecture – the leader will drive the architecture for the large rooftop products. This includes aligning the large rooftop portfolio of products with the overall Unitary strategy for key components like compressors, heat exchangers, and expansion devices.
  • Refrigeration Technology – the leader will work hand in hand with the Unitary Refrigeration Leader and Unitary Technology Leader on refrigeration technology roadmaps, development, and partnerships, and aligning these with the Large Unitary portfolio of products.
  • Electrification – the leader will work with the Unitary Refrigeration Leader to stay tied-in to SBU and Enterprise activities relative to our Electrification of Heat portfolio strategies. They will also be responsible for architecting Heat Pump products within the large rooftop portfolio to meet our product roadmap needs.
  • Refrigeration Competency – the leader will work with the Unitary Refrigeration leader to coach and mentor other team members.
  • Standard Work – the leader will support the development of standard work for engineers designing refrigeration systems. The leader will work hand in hand with the Unitary Refrigeration leader to develop, mature, and deploy standard work for our teams. This will also include working with other teams to mature our test and modelling capabilities.
  • Product Development – the leader will coach and mentor refrigeration subsystem engineers through the development of refrigeration and airflow systems to meet performance requirements, regulatory requirements, quality goals, and cost targets. This may include leading refrigeration system product development activities for key projects within the portfolio.
  • Supplier Communication – the leader will work with the Unitary Refrigeration Leader to manage supplier communication for refrigeration component suppliers such as expansion devices, coils, and compressors.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) and at least 5 years of refrigeration design and development experience is required.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Data analytics experience is a plus.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong in engineering fundamentals.
  • Exposed to DFSS tools with expertise in DFMEA, DFM, & Reliability tools.
  • Strong project management skills and conversant with MS Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Experience working with global Engineering teams.
  • Successful experience motivating and working with culturally diverse remote teams
  • Motivated and committed to excellence.
  • Design & development or application experience in HVAC products is a plus.
  • Experience with refrigeration design and sheet metal design fundamentals is a plus.
  • Experience with data analytics is a plus.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $88,500 - $184,000

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
