RCC invites you to apply for our Librarian position. This position is a full-time, twelve-month professional faculty appointment with an excellent benefits package. The anticipated hiring range is $66,000 - $74,000 and will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an immediate appointment.

Rappahannock Community College is seeking a collaborative, flexible, organized, and user-focused Librarian with a demonstrated interest in teaching and learning. The Librarian reports to the Coordinator of Learning Resources and is responsible for supporting the full services provided by the RCC Learning Resource Centers and the Richmond County Public Library (RCPL). The successful candidate will:
  • Work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty across all campuses and sites to support student success and other initiatives related to RCC.
  • Provide research assistance, subject orientations, and collection development.
  • Provide assistance at public service points and/or remotely.
  • Serve as lead coordinator of RCC tutoring services.
  • Actively participate in library, university, and/or professional-level service commitments, including library activities and events.
  • Deliver information literacy instruction.

The Librarian must be comfortable with change and a rapidly changing technological environment. This position will maintain a schedule at both campuses, which may include evenings and weekends. Finalists will be asked to complete a presentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Information literacy instruction or other training/teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to provide excellent customer service to all users from a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds, using a variety of print and electronic resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to work as part of a team.
  • Collection development experience relevant to campus curriculum, including selecting and deselecting print and electronic resources.
  • Experience with library technology and library content management systems; knowledge of emerging technologies and their application to library services.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Graduate degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the ACRL Framework.
  • Knowledge of the needs of non-traditional students.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Public library experience.
  • Web design experience (i.e., WordPress, HTML).
  • Experience with an LMS (preferably Canvas).
