The Mission Systems Services organization is looking for a candidate to fill a Field Service Department Manager position. This position will lead a team of 3 Field Engineering Section Managers with broad responsibility for 200+ employees worldwide. The number of active programs that this team will support will vary at any given time.

The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, hiring, and mentoring to the organization. A candidate for this position will prepare/deliver performance reviews, provide coaching/mentoring, assist in career development, plan salaries, reward and recognize individuals, and manage staff performance, as needed. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying the necessary staff, facilities, and equipment for the successful execution of projects. In addition to strong leadership and organizational skills, candidates must have experience in project management.

Candidate will be responsible for adherence to capital and operating budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring their team meets all customer requirements. Occasional domestic and international travel is rare but may be expected for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage successful field engineering teams execution of cost, schedule, and technical performance of several different contract types and satisfaction across multiple customers.
  • Manage all aspects of operations, including labor capacity planning, staffing, training, process improvement, employee performance development/reviews, and safety.
  • Lead team program status meetings to surface issues early, recognize accomplishments, and manage actions to closure to ensure customer commitments are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Worked closely with Program Management office to assess staffing requirements and manage resources to meet customer requirements at the lowest possible cost while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Review/Approve proposals (Basis of Estimate writing & pricing) for new & continuing programs.
  • Manage Cost Centers (Overhead), responsible for forecasting and executing to overhead budgets, labor base, and indirect expenses.
  • Working closely with functional organizations (Human Resources, Security, etc.) to resolve employee issues.
  • Perform Site visits and conduct employee all-hands meetings
  • Routinely interface with leadership to provide strategy, goals, status, and reporting.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Must have 8 years of experience in the military, field services, and/or government contract environment.
  • Must have lead experience in program/project management.
  • Must have experience leading/managing teams.
  • Well experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with estimating, pricing, and technical writing.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related technical field and 8 years of related experience. Additional related experienced may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Current Top Secret clearance is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
