We're seeking an Oncology Access Nurse responsible for enhancing the patient experience by providing a seamless navigation process from diagnosis to survivorship. This individual will:

  • Responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary teams to triage, coordinate, and consistently manage patient care by educating, providing a link to research, serving as the primary point of contact for patients and families and providing indirect patient care.
  • Works with patients and families to answer questions, provide emotional support and solve issues concerning the cycle of care.

Additional Details: Will be a fully remote role after 4-8 weeks of onsite training.
Schedule will be: Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm
Description:
The Oncology Access Nurse is a disease group specific expert who provides clinical review of cancer referrals to promptly assist with scheduling of patients.
Ensures all necessary medical records are available in order to facilitate a timely and comprehensive consult visit.
Primary responsibilities include: synthesis of new patient medical records in order to confirm appropriate scheduling of provider visits, facilitates receipt of additional records as needed, provides real time support to specialty referral coordinators to assist with scheduling, acts as primary clinical contact for patients with questions ahead of consult visit, addresses real or perceived barriers to care identified during initial phone consult, collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team, provides additional resource referral as needed, and confirms visit readiness.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing,
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Valid, unencumbered nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Preferred experience:
  • 3 years within oncology, with at least 1 year in assigned disease group, OCN, AOCN, APPN, CBCN, or BMTCN certification preferred, required within 24 months.
  • Must complete a minimum of 12 CEUs annually with a focus on disease group specialty if certification is not already disease group specific.
  • Participates in a department level quality improvement project annually.
