We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to work within The US Oncology Network of McKesson. An active pharmacist license is required; an active pharmacist license in Maryland is preferred

Job Summary

This position is responsible for remote order review and the implementation and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services for practices within The US Oncology Network (The Network). The Clinical Reviewer Pharmacist works collaboratively with The Network practice(s), leadership, and McKesson teams to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive, cost-effective pharmacy services that meet regulatory and quality obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with practice leadership, develops and implements strategies to optimize clinical efficacy, appropriate dosing, and therapeutic interchange, reimbursement, and other drug use initiatives.
  • Implements mutually agreed upon therapeutic and supportive care medication use changes within the patient care setting.
  • Collaborate with The Network practices to implement P&T recommendations and improvements for patient safety.
  • Function as clinical pharmacist for patient-specific practice needs.
  • Identify best practices within the electronic health record for medication review and suggestions for enhancements.
  • Leads the development of clinical practice metrics.
  • Report on clinical interventions and updates on key drug initiatives at practice P&T or applicable leadership meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4+ years of practice in oncology clinical pharmacy required
  • Active Pharmacist License: Maryland pharmacist license preferred

Critical Skills:

  • Experience as oncology clinical pharmacist guiding sound drug utilization strategies
  • Experience developing and expanding clinical pharmacy services
  • Data analytic skills required (primary literature, medication use trends, pharmacy practice)
  • Excellence in development of articulate persuasive arguments based on analysis and consensus recommendations
  • Experience in successful collaboration efforts with physicians, advanced practice providers and other practice staff
  • Strong working knowledge of community oncology practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Practice development experience with community oncology practices highly preferred
  • Understanding of managed care trends, including step edits, prior authorization workflow and value-based care models a plus
  • Success managing ongoing relationships through remote communications and technology (phone, email, web conference, O365)
  • Strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize /follow-up

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), residency training preferred
  • Active Pharmacist License in Maryland preferred, flexibility in gaining additional state licenses as required
  • Board Certified in Oncology (BCOP) preferred

  • Periodic travel required to client sites and internal meetings

In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$108,900 - $181,500
