General Description

Scale for Change seeks an Organizing Manager to support organizing efforts for an organization known for defending civil liberties in the United States.

You will work with Scale for Change and its client to develop content and programming to mobilize and train volunteers to take action with volunteer teams. Priorities will include developing and facilitating volunteer training, building an online community for volunteers, and communicating with new volunteer prospects and leads.

The Organizing Manager is also responsible for building and maintaining a culture within the volunteer team that welcomes and supports the diversity of volunteers. The candidate should feel comfortable running a data-driven program that values testing and innovation.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your program, including taking primary responsibility for meeting goals and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Own the process of recruiting, training, and mobilizing statewide volunteer teams.
  • Recruit volunteers, absorb volunteer interest, and mobilize volunteers via multiple online platforms.
  • Create innovative engagement strategies to motivate volunteers.
  • Support volunteer leaders in their goals of training and supporting volunteer team members to complete weekly volunteer activities and tasks.
  • Work with Scale for Change and its client to break overall goals into smaller goals, develop timelines and work plans, and produce reports to tell the story of your state’s progress.
  • Leverage digital tools such as Discord, TikTok, Instagram, X, Slack, Signal, and Hustle to recruit, organize, and continuously engage a distributed volunteer network.
  • Support managing a virtual volunteer workspace to engage with and support volunteer leaders and teams.
  • Ensure client and organizational satisfaction and completion of all program goals and obligations.
  • Analyze daily and weekly reports to track progress toward goals and implement rigorous quality control measures.
Qualifications

  • Able and willing to travel regularly.
  • Experience running impactful and engaging volunteer programs and/or virtual organizing programs.
  • Expertise in setting goals and deadlines and motivating volunteers to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Understands VAN voter database software, Hustle, Slack, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, communicating clearly and often.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including building relationships and engaging with new people.
  • Maintain a positive, can-do, and solutions-oriented attitude in tough situations.
  • Flexible and self-motivated to identify priorities and complete work.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to progressive causes and progressive management practices.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • A reliable internet connection is needed to ensure remote work that supports video meetings.
There is no formal education requirement for this position. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English are highly encouraged to apply.
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt, mid-level position with Scale for Change, with an annual base salary range of $60,000 to $65,000. Full-time, exempt employees are also eligible for a cell phone reimbursement of up to $75/month, a 401k match, professional development resources, and employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance. This is a short-term position with an expected end date of August 23, 2024.
