Job Summary:

As an ECAD Librarian, you will perform Electronic Component ECAD/PCB/EDA librarian tasks developing ECAD library elements including electronic schematic symbols and PCB footprint cells using the Mentor Graphics Siemens Expedition/EDM tool suite utilizing vendor datasheets as well as industry and company standards. Interfacing with National ECAD Library team, ECAD/PCB Layout Design Engineers, Product Development Engineers, Component Engineers, Program Management, Engineering and project leads, external electronic component manufacturers and other related disciplines.

This position is currently designated as fully remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories).

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

•    Develop ECAD library elements including electronic schematic symbols and PCB footprint cells using the Mentor Graphics Siemens Expedition/EDM tool suite  

•    Work product checked by coworkers for quality improvements and specification compliance 

•    Interfacing with several different engineering tools and disciplines 

•    Shifting from one task to another as priorities dictate 

Basic Qualifications:

•    Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience to include at least 3 of the following:

  • Three years of experience working with electronic components including semiconductors, passive components and electromechanical commodities and their applications

  • Three years of experience in ECAD/PCB/EDA library development

  • Three years of experience with the ECAD/PCB layout design processes

  • Three years of experience interpreting component manufacturer’s datasheets including electrical, functional and mechanical data

  • Three years of experience with a CAD tool

•    The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Knowledge of one or more tools from the Mentor Graphics suite (xDM, DMS, Expedition. DXdatabook, Design Architect/Boardstation) or other related ECAD software tools

•    Knowledge in ECAD/PCB layout design and end user best practices

•    Knowledge of PCB/CCA fabrication and board manufacturing processes

•    Knowledge of MIL specs and standards related to library development

•    Knowledge of ECAD library management practices and ECAD Library development principles to minimize design risks and hazards

•    Understanding of IPC-7351 standard land patterns and/or other footprint calculation methods and standards

•    Solid written and verbal communication skills as well as customer interaction skills using a variety of communication methodologies

•    Ability to learn to navigate multiple complex specifications, processes and tools

•    Ability to work in a high volume environment and shift from one task to another as priorities dictate while exercising high organizational skills

•    Self-starter that is comfortable with and knows when to ask questions, ask for help or ask for clarification

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
