The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a not-for-profit international regulatory authority whose mission is to assure the effective and efficient reduction of risks to the reliability and security of the grid. NERC develops and enforces Reliability Standards; annually assesses seasonal and long‐term reliability; monitors the bulk power system through system awareness; and educates, trains, and certifies industry personnel. NERC’s area of responsibility spans the continental United States, Canada, and the northern portion of Baja California, Mexico. NERC is the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) for North America, subject to oversight by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Provincial authorities in Canada. NERC's jurisdiction includes users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system, which serves nearly 400 million people.
The Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC) www.eisac.com , a division of NERC, was formed in 1999 in response to U.S. Presidential Decision Directive 63. The E-ISAC, in collaboration with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council (ESCC), is designed to serve as the primary security communications channel for the electricity industry.

Your Impact
The Product Manager is a member of the Performance Management team within the E-ISAC. The Product Manager interacts with all teams in the E-ISAC, identifying business needs for E-ISAC’s three main software application platforms: Salesforce and the related Portal website, the automated information exchange, and the E-ISAC data warehouse. The Product Manager collaborates with internal management and staff, as well as external, industry stakeholders to identify the features, issues, and opportunities to expand and improve these platforms thereby increasing user adoption, channel effectiveness, and user experience.

The Product Manager interacts closely with the Director of E-ISAC Performance Management and internal staff to set the products’ vision and scope, functional and non-functional requirements and design, and enhancement delivery timelines. The Product Manager communicates the products’ plans, changes, risks and issues to internal and external stakeholders and leads the hands-on delivery and rollout of product user guides and training. The Product Manager stays aware of technology changes to underlying platforms and the opportunities and risk they may pose and works closely with technical staff to leverage or mitigate those changes.

The Product Manager is skilled at interacting with business end-users, stakeholders, and technical and non-technical staff and at researching, gathering, and analyzing sentiment feedback and usage data to identify trends and develop recommendations for product and platform improvement.

The Product Manager ensures the quality of the platform by coordinating and performing end-user acceptance testing. The Product Manager performs light project scheduling and administration duties for smaller projects and manages a small staff of analyst and technical staff and servers as the main day-to-day point of contact to product-related support and platform vendors.

The Product Manager is a self-motivated individual possessing excellent critical-thinking skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and solid data, business performance, and workflow analysis skills.

This position reports to the E-ISAC’s Director of Performance Management.

Your Responsibilities and Qualifications*

  • Hold stakeholder discussions, gather, and analyze feedback, and perform market assessments to meet stakeholder reach and satisfaction expectations.
  • Ideate, establish, and communicate product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Prioritize product features and communicate rationale to stakeholders.
  • Align product features and delivery schedules with business goals.
  • Identify, define, and track success metrics.
  • Translate product requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Identify, model, and communicate product costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities.
  • Market and communicate product features, benefits, and changes to stakeholders.
  • Lead the delivery and operation of assigned product platforms.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept, prototype, and pilot initiatives.
  • Manage and allocate assigned staff to product development, enhancement, and operations tasks.
  • Interface regularly with team and department leadership and staff to solicit needs and wants from a continuous product improvement perspective.
  • Interface daily with application development and support team and with corporate shared services teams (IT, HR, Audit, Finance) as needed.
  • Develop user guides and training materials and train E-ISAC staff on new or changed product features and functionality and communicate changes effectively to targeted stakeholders.
  • Perform and coordinate end-user acceptance testing.
  • Develop realistic product delivery timelines with identified dependencies and risks.
  • Individually meet assigned deadlines and proactively communicate work that will not be completed on-time with expected quality.

Qualifications*
A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, equivalent or higher in business administration, program administration, business analysis, systems analysis and design, information technology product design and marketing, or a related discipline is required. A combination of relevant experience and/or relevant certifications may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of related experience with information technology products and platforms.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to lead and guide teams, peers, and stakeholders through system and process change.
  • Strong ability to work independently and show initiative.

  • Superior presentation and negotiation skills.

  • The position may be based remotely but must be able to travel to NERC offices in Washington, DC and to North American member sites, when needed. Reimbursement of travel expenses will be in accordance with the company’s travel and expense reimbursement policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
