THE POSITION

This position, in the Bureau of Epidemiology, will serve as the viral hepatitis public health program assistant administrator who will assisting in the administration of the viral hepatitis program in the central office of the Department of Health. This position supports the Department’s mission to promote health behaviors and prevent injury and disease through its responsibility for viral hepatitis elimination planning activities including implementation planning, assessment of needs, management of stakeholder engagement and training/conference planning.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Work involves statewide viral hepatitis elimination planning activities including coalition building, implementation planning, assessment of needs, administration of stakeholder engagement and training/conference planning. Specifically assists in developing viral hepatitis elimination plans and implementation strategies as well as assist with partner engagement via coalition building; This work involves internal and external stakeholder management and meeting organizing. An employee would also assist with cataloging and maintaining up to date information and resources for public health education in this program area; may present educational materials to groups on various aspects of the program; develops data collection methods and analyzes data to report program activities and adherence to grant metrics and deadlines.

As part of viral hepatitis elimination planning, an employee interacts with other Department of Health employees, federal, state and local health agencies, constituent groups, service providers, community organizations and groups, task forces, coalitions, committees, initiates problem-solving strategies, resolves program problems, provides technical assistance and promotes viral hepatitis elimination program activities.

Assists epidemiologists in the administration of a public health program by performing staff work for a variety of functions involving different components or an entire specific component of a public health program involving prevention and disease management strategies of viral hepatitis to targeted population groups including healthcare providers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Public Health Program Associate 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
