About the Indiana State Library:

The Indiana State Library and Historical Bureau is a public library building, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is the largest public library in the state of Indiana, housing over 60,000 manuscripts. Established in 1934, the library has gathered a large collection of books on a vast variety of topics.


Role Overview
:

The Regional Coordinators of the Indiana State Library serve as the ambassadors of the Indiana State Library and the State Librarian to library staff from all types of libraries in Indiana. Regional Coordinators offer training workshops to library staff on the resources available from the Indiana State Library, including Evergreen, Inspire, WebJunction, and LSTA and similar grant opportunities. Regional Coordinators serve a leadership role in the library community by connecting the resources throughout the state and staying abreast of national and international trends in library science. This role is 100% remote with over 50% travel within the region.


Salary Statement
:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.


A Day in the Life:

The Regional Librarians provide information, marketing, consulting, continuing education opportunities, and more to libraries within their geographical area of the state; Regional Librarians are members of the Professional Development Division.

Essential duties to be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Conducts Regional marketing activity, assesses area library needs and helps develop area library services. Marketing activities include exhibits at conferences.
  • Plans, develops and coordinates continuing education opportunities for Indiana libraries, including making use of video conferencing, online and/or webinar technology as appropriate.
  • Develops and teaches ongoing workshops and classes as determined appropriate to meet regional library needs.
  • Presents in-service demonstrations of State Library services and/or other library topics to libraries and library related groups.
  • Acts as “clearinghouse” for questions from directors and library visits, e-mail, phone or other correspondence, referring questions to appropriate State Library staff as needed.
  • Maintains working knowledge of current State Library services, programs, projects and regional library needs.
  • Makes onsite marketing and in-service visits to assigned area libraries.
  • Maintains communication and coordination of work assignments with the Director of Professional Development.
  • Advises Director of Professional Development of any problems, requests, library concerns, procedural or policy issues and other matters affecting regional services.
  • Participates on Professional Development and Regional task forces, project teams, and committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Master of Library Science and a broad knowledge of the ISL and other libraries.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a Librarian.
