Position Description:

**100% REMOTE WORK ELIGIBLE**

This position is responsible for reviewing and processing proposal submissions to and reviewing and facilitating the establishment of awards from external sponsors to ensure financial and programmatic components are in compliance with institutional, state, and sponsor guidelines and regulations. The candidate will collaborate with other Office of Research and Innovation personnel to ensure sound and efficient administrative and financial management of the University's sponsored programs portfolio. This position provides competent-level support to basic and applied/translational research (including animal and human subjects research), instruction and training activities, and other sponsored activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Communicate with and provide guidance to principal investigators and departmental support staff on the development of proposal components, including but not limited to budgets, scopes of work, research strategy, allowability of costs, and biosketches.

Review and facilitate proposals submitted by principal investigators to ensure the proposal is in compliance with institutional, state, and sponsor guidelines and regulations. Examples of compliance matters that must be reviewed include Conflict of Interest, human subjects and institutional review board (IRB) approval, animal subjects/IACUC approval, institutional biosafety approval, etc).� The proposal specialist must be knowledgeable of institutional processes and federal requirements for compliance.

Review and facilitate externally sponsored awards made to the university to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and sponsor guidelines and regulations. Examples of compliance matters that must be reviewed include Conflict of Interest, human subjects and institutional review board (IRB) approval, animal subjects/IACUC approval, institutional biosafety approval, financial and programmatic compliance, etc.� The award administration specialist must be knowledgeable of institutional processes and federal requirements for compliance for awarded sponsored programs.

Provide institutional oversight to the use of electronic systems utilized by external sponsors. Review administrative, financial, and programmatic information entered into sponsor electronic systems for accuracy (based on sponsor and system requirements) and provide guidance to principal investigators and departmental support staff on any issues identified that could impact proposal submission and award administration.�

Finalize proposal review and facilitate proposal submission to external sponsors via timely communication.� Proposals must be reviewed by the proposal specialist in an efficient and timely manner in order to meet sponsor deadlines.

Finalize sponsored program awards and agreements, confirming that the terms and conditions are in alignment with institutional guidelines and negotiating agreement language as necessary.� Facilitate full execution of awards and agreements by the University's Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).

Administer financial and administrative components of active sponsored programs, including but not limited to budget adjustments, change in scope and/or personnel, project extensions, subaward review and issuance, and reporting and closeout documentation.

Communicate with principal investigators, departmental support staff, and SPA personnel with a high regard for efficient and effective proposal submission and award establishment/administration and a dedicated focus on providing excellent customer support.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in MS Office programs.

Experience with electronic systems and databases (e.g., PeopleSoft Financials, iRIS, eRA Commons, Research.gov).

Previous customer service experience.

Master's degree in related field

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
