Role Overview:

This contracted Senior DBA role, with a specialization in DB2, is integral to managing and enhancing DB2 databases within AIX and Windows Server environments for a federal government project. While DB2 is the primary focus, abilities in SQL Server management are highly regarded. The role is designed to ensure that database operations are not only secure and efficient but also fully compliant with federal standards, thereby playing a pivotal role in the overarching success of our government-oriented projects.

Key Responsibilities:

● Administer, maintain, and optimize DB2 databases to ensure superior performance and reliability.

● Employ Veritas NetBackup for strategic database backup and recovery, aligning with federal data integrity standards.

● Support SQL Server database management, focusing on database migrations and integrations.

● Uphold stringent federal IT security and compliance protocols across all database activities.

● Engage with project teams to ensure database strategies are seamlessly integrated with project objectives and client requirements.

● Utilize Agile methodologies and tools, such as Micorsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, or comparable solutions to foster efficient project management and team collaboration.

● Implement robust scripting and task automation using languages and tools like PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Ansible to enhance database operations and maintenance efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications:

● Comprehensive expertise in DB2 database administration across both AIX and Windows Server platforms.

● Proficiency in Veritas NetBackup with hands-on experience in SQL Server database management.

● In-depth understanding of federal IT security and compliance mandates.

● Exceptional analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

● Proven experience in Agile project environments, proficient with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or comparable solutions.

● Strong scripting capabilities and familiarity with automation tools and languages, including PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Ansible.

● Demonstrated thought leadership, with a commitment to ongoing learning and application of industry best practices.

● Desirable certifications in database management, security, or relevant technical fields.

Experience:

● At least 5 years of experience in DBA roles, predominantly focused on DB2, with direct involvement in projects for federal government clients.

● Demonstrated proficiency in Agile methodologies and familiarity with Agile project management tools.

● Proven track record in scripting and automating database tasks to improve operational efficiency.
