Job Description

Technical Staffing Resources is seeking a Senior Project Planning/Scheduling Specialist is accountable for providing Project Planning & Scheduling Services for assigned projects. 

The incumbent solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of industry best practices in project schedule controls.

May direct other scheduling resources, prioritize tasks, and provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of project schedule controls to develop and maintain project schedules in compliance with project controls procedures and project specific objectives.

This position will be based out of Newark, DE office.  Potential for periodic trips to the office and travel to client sites. 

The work hours can be flexible with possible remote work opportunities available for this position. Responsibilities

  • Ensures the effective delivery of Planning and Scheduling services on a portfolio of plant-based projects or major capital projects.
  • Provides project scheduling controls services during the various phases of project execution: front-end loading, detailed design, and construction. 
  • Actively interfaces with project managers, engineering work group leads, procurement, and construction personnel to develop resource loaded, integrated EPC schedules.
  • Facilitates structured schedule progress review meetings with project team members to obtain timely and accurate progress updates.   
  • Provides written schedule analysis summaries to project team members highlighting schedule progress, critical path status, upcoming key milestones and activities, upcoming critical interfaces between engineering, procurement, and construction, schedule status concerns, etc.
  • Actively participates in identifying negative performance trends and in developing corrective action recommendations to project manager and team members.
  • Produces project schedule performance data to be incorporated into the overall program or project status reporting.

 

Requirements

  • Seven plus (7+) years of planning and scheduling experience on engineering and construction projects.
  • An undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline or construction management preferred.
  • Must be proficient with the Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Microsoft Project Planner experience a plus
  • The ability to work with all project disciplines to develop the project schedule, obtain progress updates, prepare critical path & look ahead schedules, produce resource curves, analyze schedules, and lead schedule review meetings with the project teams.
  • Knowledgeable regarding the front-end loading process (FEL) utilized for the initial development phase of capital projects. Familiarity with the engineering tasks performed and deliverables produced during the front-end loading and detailed engineering phases of projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively within a project team, across the KBR organization, and with clients.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excel skills should include pivot tables, formulas, chart creation and managing large data files.
       

Preferred: Knowledge of the following project controls concepts, processes, and software applications is beneficial.

·       The earned value process (CPI & SPI) utilized for measuring and reporting project performance trends.

  • Schedule Risk Assessments
  • Facilitating Interactive Planning Sessions
  • Integration of the Advanced Work Packaging methods into project schedules
  • Experience with planning and scheduling controls on process unit turnarounds and construction projects.

 

Physical Qualifications

  • Work may include field walk downs which require the following activities:
  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
