Maximize subrogation recoveries cost effectively for all policy lines for simple to moderately complex files. Evaluate and resolve subrogation issues and acts as a technical resource. Promotes a climate conducive to resolving minor subrogation issues.

You will handle subrogation for low complex medical claims and will report to the PIP & Med Pay subrogation managers.

Position Compensation Range:

$23.00 - $33.17

Primary Accountabilities

  • Present subrogation claims on behalf of the company/insured based on file analysis for simple to moderately complex files. Prepare cases for arbitration.
  • Generate communication strategies with adverse carrier or claimants and negotiate settlement recovery on simple to moderately complex subrogation claims.
  • Evaluate simple to moderately complex claims and determine if adverse carrier/self-insured's settlement offer on property, physical damage, and medical reimbursement claims.
  • Obtain additional investigative and damage support evidence and can apply information received to maximize recovery opportunities.
  • Assess new simple to moderately complex files to determine completeness of investigation and factual evidence (e.g. scene investigations, police reports, statements). Analyze information to determine appropriate liability percentage to maximize subrogation recoveries. Handle claims involving multiple insureds/carriers, product liability, and fire losses.
  • Analyze the cost effectiveness of pursuing a subrogation claim based on potential recovery versus cost of recovery.
  • Identify, obtain, and discuss strength of factual evidence from manager or experts.
  • Exhibits basic knowledge of unfair claim practice acts, corporate claim standards, company claim bulletins and the company code of ethics. Handles claims in good faith. Apply applicable case law and statutes, considering geographic location and local ordinances.
  • Determine if damages are accident/incident related.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processing simple to moderately complex claims
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and internal/external business partners
  • Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.
  • Demonstrated fundamental understanding of policies and endorsements related to claims.

Licenses

  • Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%.
  • Catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Claims Center software experience
  • Experience with PIP or Med Pay claims
  • Experience with subrogation and/or identifying subrogation potential

Location

In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home. On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
