Job Summary/Basic Function:NOTE: This position can be filled at the grade E33 or 34 level depending on candidate qualifications.
The Systems Administration Department at Weber State University is looking for an experienced and motivated Systems Engineer to join our dedicated IT team. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting bare metal and virtual compute environments (VMware and OCI), supporting IT applications on Windows and Linux systems, writing scripts, and building Infrastructure as Code. In addition, they will configure IT monitoring tools, provide system support for programmers, database administrators, and other IT staff, and provide technical support for faculty, staff, and students.
Required Qualifications:Required:
Bachelors degree in related IT field or related equivalent work experience
2 years of experience in 3 or more of the following or related areas:
- VMware Virtualization Technologies
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Installing and maintaining hardware in a datacenter environment
- Inspecting log files
- Problem solving and root cause analysis
- Managing small technology projects
- One or more certifications in the areas of hardware, operating systems, OCI cloud, or security
Preferred Qualifications:Preferred experience:
- iSCSI SAN/NAS Environments
- Enterprise Backup Systems
- Patch Management for Windows/Linux
- IT Service Management
- Scripting and Programming
- OS Security
Preferred certifications:
- LPI LPIC-1
- OCI Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate
- VCP-DSV
