Job Summary:

LifeSecure is seeking a motivated, collaborative, and independent individual to join our finance team as a Technical Accountant. This individual will be responsible for managing financial transactions, financial statement compilation, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations - GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and SAP (statutory accounting principles) and filing requirements, and analysis of accounting activities to identify efficiency opportunities and ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical accounting experience, including but not limited to, in-depth research and analysis, interpreting and implementing regulatory changes as well as the preparation and advanced analysis of all financial statements
  • Key contributor to month-end and year-end GAAP close as well as quarterly and year-end SAP reporting
  • Prepare journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information in accordance with GAAP and SAP standards
  • Develop month-end close reconciliations, including analysis of actual versus budget variances
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency of reports
  • Participate in forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial planning processes
  • Provide analytical support for leadership, including Executive Leadership Team, with reporting and ad-hoc analysis
  • Conduct accounting research as needed
  • Prepare and submit various regulatory filings including applicable disclosures
  • Serve as the company’s primary contact for GAAP, SAP regulatory and internal audits
  • Cross train and provide support, as necessary, to finance team
  • Assist in the maintenance of internal control policies and procedures
  • Research and stay up to date on new/changing regulatory compliance and make recommendations as appropriate

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • 3-5 years of technical accounting experience, preferably in the life/health insurance industry
  • Experience in research, analysis, interpretation and implementation of regulatory changes
  • Preparation and advanced analysis of all financial statements
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SAP accounting procedures
  • CPA designation is highly desirable

Special Conditions of Employment (licenses, certificates, credentials, etc.):

  • CPA preferred

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Schedule:

  • 8- hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

 

Supplemental Pay:

  • Yearly bonus

Experience:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): 3 years (Required)
  • Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP):  (Preferred)

 

License/Certification:
