Basic Function: The Technical Assistance/Training Specialist works with local Continuum of Care (CoC) representatives to assess the needs of organizations that are implementing Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS), and provides these organizations with appropriate technical assistance and one on one training.
Principal Responsibilities:

1. Provide on-site assessment of organizations prioritized by the local CoC or other implementation partner, assisting them in implementation planning, intake process and data entry process improvement, reporting and system administration.
2. Meet with each CoC or other local implementation partner at least once per month, recording progress notes and action steps for each meeting. Develop objective success metrics for each CoC or other implementation partner and discuss current results in each monthly meeting
3. Develop and periodically enhance procedures to assist agencies with documenting and streamlining their current processes, increasing HMIS utilization and ensuring data integrity
4. Assist local CoCs by attending community meetings as requested and by compiling community wide best practices for HMIS users
5. Conduct periodic data quality audits for each organization that contributes data to HMIS
6. Coordinate and support periodic HMIS user groups
7. Achieve and maintain familiarity with current federal requirements for HMIS, including reporting requirements
8. Attend conferences and other meetings as required
Job Specifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in a human services related field, or equivalent experience
2. Familiarity with common office software
3. Familiarity with use of the Internet based applications. HMIS experience required. ClientTrack HMIS experience preferred.
4. Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills
5. Excellent writing/editing skills and strong attention to detail
6. Proven ability to communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing
7. Proven ability to build and maintain strong, positive working relationships
8. Availability and flexibility for travel
9. Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
